Local Scholarships

Please use the Local Common Scholarship Application to apply for the following scholarships.  Make sure to label each application with the appropriate scholarship name and print them off.  Local scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Braden in the Counseling Office by March 1 at 3:00 p.m.  Do not email the applications to Mrs. Braden or your counselor.  They should be printed off, stapled, signed and personally delivered to the Counseling Office.

ACEA Scholarship – Academic Achievement, Activities and Awards.  Financial Need and preference shown for a child of an ACEA member.

Anderson County Bar Association Scholarship –  Academic Achievement, Extracurricular Activities, Financial Need.

Anderson County Board of Commissioners Scholarship – Financial Need.

Anderson County Fair Association Scholarship – Academic Achievement, Community Involvement, and Financial Need.  Preference shown to students involved in FFA, 4H, and Home Economics. Attach a personal statement describing your most important school activities and service. Be sure to include any FFA or Anderson County Fair involvement.

Anderson County Retired Teachers Scholarship – For Seniors who want to pursue teaching as a career. A brief essay telling the scholarship committee about yourself and your future plans is required.

Anderson County Women Democrats Scholarship – Must be female.  Graduating senior going to college.  Please write an essay answering the following: Why am I a Democrat or why am I considering becoming a Democrat?  Must be 250 words.

Betty Graves Foundation Scholarship – Must be female with a GPA of 2.75 of higher, a minimum ACT score of 21+.  Preference will be given to students going into education or health education.

Claxton Optimist Club Scholarship – The applicant must be a student who attended Claxton Elementary School.  Requires 2 letters of recommendation.

Clinton Civitan Scholarhship - Requires good academics, financial need and leadership. Must submit a 250-500 word essay on the community service you have participated in and the importance of it to you.  Also need to know if any siblings are currently in college and if any family are Clinton Civitan members.

Clinton Lions Club Scholarship – Need based.  Good Academics, preference shown to students staying in-state and especially to those interested in optometry and or attending a trade school.

Earl Leinart Memorial Scholarship – Good all around students (academics, school involvement, community service, some financial need)

Fox, Farley, Willis & Burnette - Minimum GPA of 3.0 and a 20+ ACT.  Preference will be shown to first generation college students and those who have participated in community service.

Freddy Fagan Scholarship - Student should have a strong academic record, demonstrate school spirit and exhibit community service.  Using these three criteria, please tell us in a short essay why you are deserving of the Freddy Fagan Scholarship.  Please include 2 letters of recommendation.

Gail Martin Memorial Scholarship- All students should apply!

H.G. McGinley Memorial Scholarship – Must attend UTK, preference shown for those involved in church and community service, financial need, strong academics, leadership.  

Ida Inez Gamble Memorial Scholarship – Must be in top 15% of graduating class.

Larry Pierce Memorial Scholarship – For students pursuing a career in Agriculture or Music.

Norma Day Memorial Scholarship - All students should apply!

Purses and Pearls Scholarship - Scholarship for female students.  Preference will be given to those pursing a degree in Business.

Ruth Foster Wright Scholarship – Must have attended a Clinton City School for at least one year.  Consideration based on academic merits and financial need. Must list the Clinton City School you attended and what grades you attended.

Timely Topics Scholarship – Financial need, leadership, community service, strong academics.  Interview required.

Vera Jo Henegar Memorial Scholarship – Must be female planning to major in education.

W. T. Gallaher Memorial Scholarship – Preference shown for those who have played Clinton Baseball, Inc. or CHS Baseball.


 

Other Scholarships

Judy F. Snider Scholarship – Applicants should plan to pursue a degree or certificate through a technical school.  Deadline to apply is April 6.

Ken Dee Scholarship – Applicants should plan to attend a 4 year university in the fall. Demonstrated financial need, academic achievement and an essay are required. Application is due March 1.

Helping Hand Scholarship – Applicants should plan to attend post-secondary programs such as trade schools, apprenticeship programs or academic college programs designed to improve employment opportunites or improve their skills. Application is due March 1.

Horatio Alger Scholarship – Applicants must be juniors with a demonstrated financial need. Deadline to apply is March 15.

ETR AATA Scholarship – $1000 for a student pursuing a career in Automotive Technology. Deadline to apply is March 31!

ACT College Readiness Benchmarks

English: 18     Math: 22     Reading: 22     Science: 23


TN Ready Graduate

Our goal at CHS is to have every senior become a TN Ready Graduate!  Here are the ways to achieve this milestone:

  • Get an ACT Composite score of a 21 or higher
  • Complete 4 Early Post Secondary Opportunities (EPSOs) such as: a) dual enrollment, b) dual credit, c) AP classes
  • Complete at least 2 EPSOs and earn one industry certification  such as: a) machining, b) mechatronics, c) CNA, d) EMS, e) cosmetology, f) welding, g) Microsoft
  • Complete at least 2 EPSOs and get a 31 or higher on the ASVAB (military career assessment)

 


Drivers Permit Form Information

Sign-ups and Pick-ups: Students (not parents) are required to sign up for a Drivers Permit or Drivers Reinstatement Form.  Students can sign up before school, in between classes, during lunch and after school.  Students can return in 2 days to pick up the form during the same allotted times.  The permit form expires in 30 days.   

Eligibility: Students must have no more than 10 consecutive unexcused absences or 15 total unexcused absences in a single semester.
